Position Overview
Step into a pivotal role, collaborating with senior leaders and customer focussed teams to provide pragmatic and solutions focussed legal and commercial advice. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal and Commercial Engagement EMEA, you will be at the heart of Magentus’ legal, commercial, and compliance functions, working alongside the EMEA business, our wider Legal Team, external advisors, and strategic partners. You will be a key player in strategic commercial negotiations and lead the charge in designing and rolling out innovative commercial frameworks, from supply chain governance to supplier management and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Advice: provide legal and regulatory advice across the business, including managing internal/external counsel. Act as a strategic advisor to senior managers and a broad range of teams including Sales, Marketing and Finance. Provide support on dispute resolution/contentious matters. Identify and manage legal risks in contracts. Advise on AI governance, ethics, and regulatory safeguards.
 - Commercial Negotiations: lead and support negotiations with customers, suppliers, and strategic partners. Improve contracting processes through simplification, automation, and consistency. Maintain legal, privacy, and contracting systems. Optimise commercial terms while ensuring compliance.
 - Supplier & Process Management: help to design and implement scalable supply chain processes across EMEA. Establish onboarding, engagement, and performance review standards for key suppliers. Align supplier management with business goals and regulatory obligations.
 - Data Protection & Privacy: support the development and implementation of a data protection framework. Promote compliance through training and knowledge sharing.
 - Regulatory & Legislative Monitoring: monitor legal and regulatory developments. As required support on the drafting of board papers on key legislative changes/business initiatives in the region.
 - Risk Management: support enterprise risk management activities, including framework alignment and register maintenance, under the guidance of the Head of Legal and Commercial Engagement.
 - Legal Operations & Systems: support legal operations initiatives to improve workflow, efficiency, and compliance. Manage legal team projects and support global/regional training efforts.
 - Training & Policies: support in the development and delivery of policies, procedures, and training programmes on legal and commercial matters.
 - External Counsel: instruct and oversee external counsel, including monitoring legal and financial performance.
 - Other: support local M&A transactions as required.
 
Qualifications, Educational Requirements and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have approximately 5-8 years PQE in general commercial law (but we will consider all applications that meet our requirements).
 - Significant time working in an in-house environment (preferably for a global company).
 - Law degree with a focus on commercial law or other relevant disciplines.
 - Current unrestricted solicitor’s practising certificate in England and Wales.
 - Understanding of UK government procurement highly regarded.
 - Working knowledge of UK employment law, including tribunal procedures.
 - Exposure to M&A activities useful.
 - Experience in the healthcare technology sector highly valued, particularly with exposure to artificial intelligence initiatives and data protection regulation.
