A contract for the implementation of a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) across all NHS pathology services in Lancashire & South Cumbria has been awarded to Magentus. The new single LIMS will replace the four standalone systems that are currently used across eight hospital sites, cutting costs and providing a common platform that will link all laboratories together for the first time. It will support 800 employees and a growing regional population of approximately 1.7 million people.

Rachael Powell

CEO, Magentus
Rachael is a seasoned senior executive with expertise in scaling technology-oriented businesses globally. With a strong track record in leading high-performing teams, her diverse capabilities include strategy, business development, revenue management, marketing and communications, digital transformation, customer support/success, and human resources. As Chief Customer Officer at Xero, Rachael led a large, multi-functional, and geographically dispersed team. During a decade in various executive roles at IBM, she worked across enterprise accounts, channel partners and strategic partnerships. With a background predominantly in technology, Rachael has a personal passion for healthcare and medicine having come from a family of healthcare clinicians.

David Faella

Chief Financial Officer
David leads Magentus' global finance team, driving strong financial outcomes and overseeing the group’s financial performance. He focuses on optimising the business’s balance sheet while effectively communicating strategic and financial priorities to key stakeholders, including investors. With over 20 years of experience in finance, revenue performance, planning and analytics, David brings deep expertise in financial management and business strategy to support Magentus’ growth and success.

Damon Pezaro

Chief Product Officer
Damon is an experienced B2B and B2C executive with over 20 years of expertise in building and scaling high-growth businesses. He has led product management, design, data, operations and engineering teams across start-ups, scale-ups and enterprise environments. With a strong commercial and strategic focus, Damon excels in identifying market opportunities, developing successful products, and driving business growth. He has a proven track record in product strategy, development, and execution, with a deep appreciation for design and user experience. A leader with strong technical and data acumen, he understands business drivers from both a development and commercial perspective. Prior to Magentus he worked as Chief Product Officer for View Media and Inspectorio.

Spencer Chipperfield

General Counsel
Spencer is an experienced private practice and in-house lawyer with a background practising in top-tier law firms in Australia and England, and in-house at listed and unlisted companies. He joined Magentus as its first General Counsel and full-time Company Secretary. His role is to support our Board, Executive and key business units in meeting their business, risk, and compliance goals. In earlier roles, he has managed high-performing legal teams, led significant business changes, and worked in internationally-exposed companies with significant risk and governance diversity.

Michele Blanshard

Managing Director,

& Oncology
Michele is a highly experienced general management, marketing and sales executive. The past 20 years has seen her in various senior roles within the healthcare industry, including Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic. Michele is known for her ability to develop outstanding leaders and build a truly diverse and inclusive workforce. With a philosophy underpinned by collaboration and service to community, she is a passionate advocate for healthcare initiatives.

Martin Hayden

Chief Strategy &
Corporate Development Officer
Martin is an experienced executive who is passionate about how technology is evolving business models and improving outcomes for customers. He brings a wealth of experience to Magentus as a former CEO of on-demand talent platform flexhive, COO of specialist recruitment and talent management business Hudson, and CCO of SEEK Asia. Martin also spent 15+ years in strategy consulting and private equity as well as sitting on several Boards, overseeing investments in markets including China, India and Africa.

Alison Campbell

Chief People & Culture Officer
Alison brings over 20 years of People & Culture leadership in high-growth technology environments, with deep expertise in leading change and transformation within the tech sector. She joins Magentus from REA Group, an ASX50 powerhouse renowned for its world-class digital marketplaces. Alison has extensive experience leading geographically distributed teams in the development and delivery of P&C strategy and operational plans, M&A and integration activities and transformational programs of work. Alison has a passion for building high performing teams & values-led cultures.  

Christopher Ladds

Managing Director, Clinical Diagnostics
Christopher has over 26 years of experience in healthcare industry leadership roles, both in the UK and Australia, specialising in delivering complex technology and healthcare transformation programs. His leadership across global consultancies on significant public and private sector healthcare transformation programs has helped drive the use of health technology to create more efficient systems and deliver better healthcare outcomes.

Brenden Conolly

Chief Technology Officer
Brenden is an experienced technology professional highly skilled in IT Strategy, Agility, Management, Risk Management, Business Process Improvement, Information Security and AI. Prior to joining Magentus he held a series of key technology leadership roles including Chief Technology Officer at Global Payments AU/NZ, Chief Technology Officer at Ezidebit, and General Manager Internal Systems at Auto & General Holdings.

Amy Curtis

Executive General Manager,
Brand & Marketing
Amy has 25 years’ experience in marketing management, including working for international powerhouses such as American Express and Mastercard. In her role as EGM of Brand and Marketing, she is passionate about ensuring her team works collaboratively with divisions across the entire business to deliver impressive results. Amy instils a customer-first mentality with all team members and utilises her rich experience to make every campaign and strategy the best it can be.

Mark McConnell

Founder & Executive Chairman
Mark led Magentus through its successful transformation into a leading global health technology company. He was co-founder of The Citadel Group Limited, a software and services company, and the predecessor to what is now Magentus Group Pty Ltd.  Mark is a successful business developer whose skills cover the areas of business strategy, investor relations, capital raising and innovation. After serving as an officer in the Royal Australian Air Force for almost a decade, Mark moved into the corporate world and has worked across various executive roles in aviation, technology and investment banking.

David joined Pacific Equity Partners in 2013. Prior to joining PEP, David was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley. He received a Bachelor of Commerce & Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Sydney as a Dean’s List Scholar.

David joined Pacific Equity Partners at the start of 2004. Prior to joining PEP, he spent his analyst years in the Investment Banking Division of JP Morgan. David received a PLD from Harvard Business School and first class honours degrees (BCom and LLB) from the University of Queensland where he was awarded a University Medal.

Jayne Shaw

Jayne Shaw is the Executive Chair and co-founder of BCAL Diagnostics and co-owner of Sydney Breast Clinic. She co-founded Vision Group, has founded and led several other healthcare companies, and has worked on international mergers and acquisitions with private equity companies in the UK, Australia and the USA. She currently holds board positions at Ellerston JAADE Australian Private Assets Fund, Mable Technologies, Pharm X and Prospection. Jayne also serves as a Non-Executive Director at Pinnacle Charitable Foundation and as an advisor to the UK-based board of Problem Shared.
