HOW YOU’LL HAVE IMPACT
Location: Brisbane (preferred) or Melbourne
We’re hiring a Technical Lead to play a critical role in driving engineering excellence and innovation within the Development Partners tribe for our Practice Management Business Unit.
The Development Partners tribe designs, builds, and evolves seamless API experiences that empower our development partners to connect the disconnected health ecosystem, making it easier for doctors to do their work and to improve patient outcomes. The team is committed to delivering robust, intuitive, and well-documented APIs and integration capabilities that foster collaboration, accelerate product development, and unlock new value across ecosystems.
Your day to day will include guiding and mentoring engineers, leading technical discussions, supporting the solution design and guiding architectural decisions. You’ll achieve this by ensuring teams maintain code quality and adhere to best practices, principles and established technical patterns.
As Technical Lead you’ll collaborate closely with your Product and Design counterparts to ensure that products and systems built by the team maintain and uphold a high degree of engineering excellence.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams
- Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and architectural principles
- Review code, identify potential issues, and suggest improvements
- Stay updated with the latest technological trends and industry best practices
- Clearly articulate the benefits of modern software development practices, e.g BDD, TDD, DevOps, Pair Programming, etc.
Solution Design and Architecture
- Design and develop robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions
- Cloud native/serverless architecture practices
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical solutions
- Create detailed technical specifications and design documents
Team Leadership and Mentoring
- Mentor engineers within product teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture
- Provide continuous constructive feedback to your manager and if applicable to your reports to aid improvements
- Identify and address technical skill gaps and recommend training programs to aid career pathways
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the teams
Problem-Solving and Innovation
- Analyse complex technical problems and develop scalable, resilient solutions
- Troubleshoot system issues and identify root causes
- Implement effective strategies to improve system performance and reliability
- Encourage a culture of innovation and experimentation
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong proficiency in programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Typescript, React, Ruby on Rails)
- Experience with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Solid understanding of software development practices (e.g., TDD, BDD, Pair Programming)
- Knowledge of database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
- Experience with DevOps practices (e.g., CI/CD, observability, infrastructure as code)
