Magentus supports leap forward in safer, more connected cancer care
Victoria’s digital transformation of oncology services has taken another step with the successful implementation of Charm Evolution® at East Grampians Health Service (EGHS) Oncology Unit.
The go-live is already delivering tangible improvements in patient safety, clinician workflows and care delivery across the region.
Funded by the Victorian Government and delivered by Magentus, Charm Evolution® is replacing paper-based processes with a secure, centralised electronic system that provides clinicians with real-time access to patient information.
The new platform not only modernises prescribing, dispensing and administration of high-risk therapies, but also significantly enhances clinical decision-making and reduces the potential for medication errors.
By directly integrating with EGHS’s existing patient management system, the solution brings additional safety measures to patient identification and ensures a seamless flow of information between administrative and clinical systems.
Visiting Medical Officers being able to securely access and work within the software off-site is also a critical benefit, enabling more responsive and efficient care delivery — particularly vital for a rural service such as EGHS.
Rebecca Peters, EGHS Deputy Director of Clinical Services at East Grampians Health Service, said:
“We are pleased to have an electronic system because it enhances patient safety, supports best-practice oncology care, and makes it easier for our clinicians to work collaboratively, even when they’re not on site. That’s a game-changer for rural health services like ours and Charm Evolution® was the clear choice for our team.”
The transition to Charm Evolution® also delivers a more consistent, reliable approach to oncology treatment.
By guiding clinicians with evidence-based protocols and improving the clarity of roles through digital signatures and audit trails, the system supports safer, more accountable care.
It reduces the burden of clinical paperwork and allows care teams to focus more on their patients. With improved visibility and coordination of appointments, EGHS expects to increase patient capacity and reduce wait times.
Margot Mason, Head of Charm at Magentus, said:
“Charm Evolution® is already making a meaningful impact in healthcare organisations across Victoria, and its continued rollout is a strong example of how digital innovation can improve care equity and outcomes, especially for patients and clinicians in Australia’s regional and rural areas.”
