Charm®, Australia’s leading oncology information management system, has been named a finalist in the 2025 WA Health Excellence Awards.
The market-leading Magentus solution was nominated under the category ‘Excellence in Safety and Quality’, highlighting its transformative impact on cancer care across Western Australia.
Why Charm® Was Nominated
The Charm Oncology Management System Project, delivered in partnership by South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) and WA Country Health Service (WACHS), was selected for its role in improving safety, quality, and consistency in chemotherapy management.
Prior to Charm®, fragmented paper-based systems had contributed to serious clinical incidents, including eight SAC1 events between 2016 and 2022 (clinical incidents that have or could have caused serious harm or death).
In response, SMHS and WACHS implemented Charm® across 11 cancer treatment units, replacing legacy workflows with a shared digital platform that integrates prescribing, scheduling, verification, preparation, and administration.
By mid-2025, Charm® was live across all SMHS sites and half of WACHS sites, with full rollout expected by year-end. This marks a major step forward in reducing clinical risk, improving patient outcomes, and modernising cancer care delivery statewide.
