Australia’s Leading Oncology Software Community Comes Together
The 2025 Charm User Group (CHUG) event took place over two days at the Magentus Melbourne office last week, bringing together oncology professionals, technical experts, and clinical leaders to shape the future of cancer care through technology.
This annual gathering is a cornerstone of Magentus’s commitment to collaborative innovation, offering a platform for users to share insights, explore new features, and influence the roadmap of Charm – Australia’s #1 oncology information management system.
Day one opened with site report presentations that highlighted the scope of each Client Charm Deployment, the number and types of patients treated, and the benefits and lessons learnt over the past 12 months. Magentus provided the User Group with development hours for ongoing enhancement of the product, then clients presented eligible candidates for this year’s development hours, setting the tone for a collaborative and insight-rich agenda.
Attendees explored technical updates including MIMS integration and the latest advancements in Charm Evolution®, followed by in-depth clinical safety and roadmap discussions. The day culminated in an interactive workshop on the future of oncology, where participants shared visions for care delivery, data governance, and digital transformation. A social function closed the evening, giving users and teams a chance to connect informally.
On day two, client-only sessions took centre stage. These included voting for user group leadership and prioritisation of enhancement requests for utilisation of the user group development hours, followed by feedback presentations and an interactive recap of the future of oncology workshop. A live demonstration of CHARM® 5.5.0 showcased new capabilities in medication management and clinical note workflows (user-led development from the previous year’s development hours), and highlighting the new features migrated to the Charm Evolution® platform. The day closed out with a session focused on information and requirements gathering, and final updates from client services.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for face-to-face connectivity, however remote participants were also able to join sessions to ensure broad accessibility and engagement across the Charm community.
