The NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England sets out a bold future for the UK’s health system, with a vision to deliver care that is more digitally enabled, data-driven, and centred around patients. At Magentus, we welcome the plan’s recognition of diagnostics as a foundation for future care. We particularly support the inclusion of national digital procurement pathways and value-based appraisal of diagnostic technologies.
With over 160 Community Diagnostic Centres already in operation, and many more on the way, diagnostic services are being brought closer to patients. Crucial to delivering on that ambition is trusted digital infrastructure, spanning both radiology and pathology, and clinical diagnostics more broadly.
Magentus is supporting NHS regions with this shift. Our LIMS and RIS workflow tools already underpin some of the UK’s largest diagnostic networks, enabling teams to deliver faster, more connected care, all while integrating with other leading innovators in the sector.
It’s clear that strong partnerships are central to the vision set out in the 10-year plan. Magentus has long-standing experience collaborating with multi-trust NHS diagnostic networks. These ways of working demonstrate how regional solutions can support national goals, by scaling innovation safely, efficiently, and in alignment with NHS governance models.
We are particularly encouraged by the plan’s ambition to embed AI into diagnostic pathways by 2029, with AI scribes and diagnostic support tools scaled across the NHS. It’s encouraging that NICE will expand its appraisal process to include digital tools and diagnostics, and introduce a new national procurement model for value-based technologies.
