Patients and care teams benefit from hospital pharmacy ordering integration
in Victoria, marking a major milestone in the journey toward a fully digital, paperless ordering system.
This achievement positions Victoria as the second Australian state, alongside Queensland, to adopt a digital ordering solution for hospital pharmacy services.
The latest addition to the network, the Gippsland Health Alliance – which includes Latrobe Regional Health, Central Gippsland Health Service, Bairnsdale Regional Health, West Gippsland Health Service, and Bass Coast Health – is now fully live on Slade’s integration engine.
On its first day of operation, over 150 items were seamlessly ordered through the Charm Evolution® system, eliminating the need for manual data entry and streamlining operations for the team at Slade Health’s Mt Waverley site in Victoria.
Enhanced efficiency and real-time insights
The integration engine connects the Magentus Charm Evolution® EMR system directly with Slade Health’s bespoke compounding software, ensuring a secure, automated flow of information.
Hospital pharmacists can now experience:
• Improved operational efficiency by eliminating the need for faxes and emails
• Real-time visibility into the status of orders, updates, and cancellations
• Reduced risk of errors with automated data transfers
• Time savings for both hospital and compounding teams
Pharmacists using the Charm Evolution® integration have reported significant workflow improvements and enhanced accuracy in their operations, enabling them to focus more on patient care.
Product Lead at Magentus, Margot Mason said “We are proud to be supporting patient safety and the efficient delivery of accurate treatment through this important integration.”
Slade Health General Manager – Client Relations, Paula Clark said “This integration exemplifies our commitment to advancing healthcare through innovative digital solutions. By streamlining the ordering process, we are not only enhancing operational efficiency but also contributing to better patient outcomes across Victoria’s healthcare network.”
