Michele Blanshard Appointed Vice President of MSIA

Michele Blanshard, a key leader at Magentus, has been elected Vice President of the Medical Software Industry Association (MSIA). This appointment comes at a pivotal time for Australia’s digital health landscape, as the MSIA continues to champion interoperability, innovation, and patient-centric care across the sector.

The MSIA represents software vendors who deliver critical digital infrastructure to healthcare providers Australia-wide. Its mission is to ensure that medical software is safe, secure, and interoperable, while advocating for policy and funding that supports digital transformation. In 2025, MSIA’s strategic priorities include:

  • Accelerating integration with My Health Record
  • Improving data governance and privacy
  • Promoting cloud-first infrastructure and AI adoption
  • Reducing clinician burden through smarter workflows

Michele’s leadership at Magentus, where she has driven innovation across practice management, positions her perfectly to advance these goals.

Innovation must be meaningful, it’s about making sure clinicians and patients benefit from it every day,” Michele said.

At Magentus, we’ve seen how integrated platforms like Gentu, our cloud-native practice management software for specialists, along with Australian ecosystem health technology partners can transform workflows and I’m excited to bring that perspective to the MSIA.

Key Areas of Focus

Over the next 12 months, Michele will focus on three key areas:

  1. Driving interoperability: Advocating for seamless data exchange between systems, especially across primary care, specialist and hospital settings.
  2. Championing clinician usability: Ensuring software design supports clinical workflows and reduces administrative burden.
  3. Accelerating ethical AI adoption: Promoting responsible use of AI to enhance diagnostics, triage, and patient engagement.

Her leadership will also support MSIA’s efforts to influence national policy, particularly around digital health funding and standards. As Australia continues its transition to cloud-first infrastructure, Michele’s dual role at Magentus and MSIA positions her to bridge industry needs with government strategy.

Magentus and MSIA share a vision for a healthier, more connected Australia,” Michele added. “I’m honoured to help lead that journey.
